Ion Exchange
Water softeners are specific ion exchangers that are designed to remove ions,
which are positively charged. Softeners mainly remove calcium (Ca2+) and
magnesium (Mg2+) ions. Calcium and magnesium are often referred to as 'hardness
minerals'. Softeners are sometimes even applied to remove iron. The softening
devices are able to remove up to five milligrams per litre (5 mg/L) of
dissolved iron. Softeners can operate automatic, semi-automatic, or manual.
Each type is rated on the amount of hardness it can remove before regeneration
is necessary.
A water softener collects hardness minerals within its conditioning tank and
from time to time flushes them away to drain. Ion exchangers are often used for
water softening. When an ion exchanger is applied for water softening, it will
replace the calcium and magnesium ions in the water with other ions, for
instance sodium or potassium. The exchanger ions are added to the ion exchanger
reservoir as sodium and potassium salts (NaCl and KCl).

AQA Total
Removes lime scale build-up. To date, this is the only non-chemical water
treatment conditioner with reproducible, and scientifically verified results.
European and USA tested to handle up to 40 grains of hardness. No salts added!
No "slippery" feeling! No wasted water! Drinking water remains drinking water
with all of its valuable life sustaining minerals.
This system works with controlled direct current to form calcite crystals in
solution, thus minerals remain in water and not in the water pipes or heaters.
Have healthy drinking water throughout your home, while still protecting your
pipes and plumbing. Will not harm septic systems.

Scale Watcher
The patented Scalewatcher uses customized integrated circuitry and signal
processing techniques. The signal cable, wrapped around the water pipe,
transmits a complex frequency modulated wave form, which safely controls the
precipitation of the calcium carbonate crystals. Treated crystals remain in the
water and do not stick to the pipe wall. Existing scale deposits are softened,
loosened and slowly dissolved in the water flow.

T.A.C.
Template Assisted Crystallization (TAC). Atomic level Templates on the surface
of small specially treated polymer spheres transform dissolved CaCO3 to a
crystalline form. The crystals are relatively insoluble, effectively isolating
the CaCO3 from the water chemistry and anything the water contacts.
Based on TAC technology, nextScaleStop converts hardness minerals into
harmless, inactive microscopic crystals. Tested by an independent laboratory
against the international protocol for scale prevention, nextScaleStop achieved
a 99.6% effectiveness rating. Proven in over 6 years of successful use in homes
and businesses.
